Cristina graduated from the University of Bologna with a master’s degree in Italian Studies, European Literary Cultures, Linguistics. Since her undergraduate studies, she has been specializing in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory, particularly on possible worlds theory within transmedia narratology. She also has a strong interest in psychology and cognitive poetics.

As a PhD candidate (ESR 8) at the University of Basel and University of Stavanger, her project focuses on readers’ engagement on digital reading platforms. Bringing together literary theory, psychology, and computational methods, the aim is to study the types of self-modifying feelings elicited by structurally different reading experiences and to test the effects that reading “choice narratives” high in foregrounding can have on our relationship with counterfactual thought and regret.
