Kirren Chana is a PhD candidate at the University of Vienna (UNIVIE) and the University of Verona (Univr).

Kirren has a background in psychology, having researched differences in emotionality in bilingual language as part of her undergraduate degree. Kirren was then part of the first postgraduate cohort to study empirical aesthetics at Goldsmiths University of London. During the course on Psychology of the Arts, Neuroaesthetics and Creativity (PANC), she explored whether the naturalness of perceived movement contributes to aesthetic experience in graffiti art, as part of a wider project on embodied aesthetics of writing and drawing.

As a part of ELIT (ESR3), Kirren’s current project centres on the visual exploration of reading within urban spaces, with an interest in differences in perception and the aesthetic appreciation of such experiences.
